Learning the importance of embracing love, mind, and spirit through various forms of meditation and yoga all started on our 1 week trip to Bali where we were able to explore Ubud, Seminyak, and Jimbaran. This trip instilled a lot of good habits into our lifestyle today.

We arrived at Ngurah Rai International Airport after an overnight journey from Thailand. It took us about 1 hour and 30 minutes to get to our hotel (we booked our roundtrip transportation with the resort when we booked the hotel).
We got to the hotel about 7am, but thankfully they were able to give us our villa for early check in. This beautiful little home was so peaceful and delivered a taste of Balinese culture.

We took a long nap and were able to enjoy our private villa.

We had formal tea time in the afternoon at the hotel. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was so peaceful, which was great for our well-being after a long journey!

The next day, we had breakfast at the hotel and then walked around outside of our resort to see the rice fields of Ubud. It felt like I was in Kerala, my hometown in India, which is very green and lush with rice paddy fields.

The resort provided us with shuttle service to Ubud’s town center. We ate lunch at Warung Babi Guling Ibu Oka—“baby pig” (need to go early as once they run out of the pig, it is done for the day!) It was delicious!

We visited one of the main temples in the center, Saraswati, and then we went to the day market where we got tons of souvenirs, so cheap!

Took shuttle back to hotel to enjoy formal tea time, then took a nap and then took the shuttle back to Ubud town for dinner and took in some classical Balinese dances which is very popular!

The next day we did Yoga at 7am, followed by breakfast at the hotel. Then we got ready, and took a private car from the hotel that took us to our hotel in Seminyak, Bali (we left around noon, and took us about 2 hours with traffic!). Left Ubud so rejuvenated.

Fun Fact– Bought this simple dress from Ubud and still have it today and still get compliments on it!

After the initial meet and greet at the W hotel we walked around the hotel for a bit.

We took a cab and went to Ku De Ta bar/restaurant, where we had cocktails and watched the beautiful Bali sunset here. Highly recommended as it had amazing viewpoint / music.

The next morning, we had breakfast at the hotel and really enjoyed all of my favorite tropical fruits. Enjoyed our hotel pools. It was perfect water temperature so we were in the pool for a bit.

We then went over to Potato Head resort and hung out in their pool (they have a pretty cool infinity pool) and it’s literally next door to the W hotel. Pretty much hung out at the hotel ALL DAY! Utilized the amazing hotel to its fullest!

The next day, we had breakfast at the W hotel. Took a taxi from the W hotel to Jimbaran Bay to our next hotel which was about a 30 minute drive. We really came here because we heard the sunset was best from this location in Bali. Upon meet and greet there, we walked around the resort for a little bit, then walked over to what they are known for, the “Rock Bar”. They open at 4 and you have to get there around then to get a good seat for the sunset!

Yes, we came here to watch the sunset in Jimbaran Bay as it was probably one of the best places to watch it! Had cocktails and simply relaxed there for about 4-5 hours!

The next morning, we took a taxi from Ayana Hotel Resort to Ngurah Rai International Airport (About 30 minute drive), which concluded our Bali trip!

Tips & Tricks for BALI:

  • Things are definitely more expensive in Bali than Thailand so do any souvenir shopping in Thailand
  • Food is also better in Thailand-Ubud and Seminyak/Jimbaran are totally different experiences and we would highly recommend both
  • Bali is just naturally beautiful…we just really soaked in the time in Ubud as its very laid back and enjoyed the views and modern feel of Seminyak / Jimbaran
  • You need to pay 200,000 rupiah / per person at the airport when you leave so ensure that you have that money set aside
